1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicantsGet AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.Plasvacc are seeking an experienced and results-driven Production Manager to lead and oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations in our veterinary biologics production facility, located in the Scenic Rim, south-east Queensland.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological production processes, regulatory compliance Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and team leadership in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulated environment. This role is critical in ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant production of high-quality veterinary biologic products and diagnostic kits.Key Responsibilities:Production Oversight:Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of the biologics production process, including collection, filling, and packaging operations.Ensure adherence to production schedules while optimizing throughput, yield, and quality.Donor Care:Ensure all donors are cared for in accordance with all company and relevant regulatory policies and guidelines.Regulatory Compliance & Quality:Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.Ensure operations comply with Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA), Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), and New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) regulations, current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), biosafety standards, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Collaborate with Quality team to support internal audits, validation activities, and investigations (e.g., deviations).Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and technicians.Conduct performance reviews, manage staffing plans, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.Process Improvement:Identify and implement process improvements.Evaluate new technologies and process automation opportunities to enhance efficiency.Records and Reporting:Maintain accurate production records and reports, utilising data analysis and key performance indicators to monitor production, quality, and efficiency.Ensure all required production records for regulators are current and complete.Inventory & Resource Management:Oversee material planning, inventory control, and equipment maintenance to avoid production delays.Work with supply chain and procurement to manage raw material and consumable supply.Role Requirements: Degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science or equivalent Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership or management role within a GMP regulated environment Minimum 5 years experience in the manufacturing industry Strong knowledge of APVMA regulatory framework and GMP standards Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve production goals Ability to plan and organise self and other team members to ensure production quality and quantity requirements Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills A high degree of attention to detail, particularly in relation to the completion of documentation. Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or advanced degree (MS, MBA) in a job-related field would be treated favourably. This role is based in a biologics manufacturing facility with potential exposure to biohazardous materials, requiring use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Work is performed outdoors and in manufacturing settings; must be able to work in varying weather conditions.
