A Full-time Cook position is available in Edge Hill (Cairns), QLD 4870.SKILLS:The role requires you to hold at least a relevant AQF (or equivalent) Cert IV and 1 year of relevant fulltime work experience.RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Cook, youll be an essential part of the kitchen team, responsible for preparing and cooking a range of dishes with care, consistency and attention to detail. Youll assist in planning menu items and estimating ingredient requirements, follow recipes and directions from the Chef and contribute to the efficient flow of service across different times of day. A key part of your role will be setting up mise-en-place, maintaining a clean and organised workspace and ensuring food is presented to a high standard. Youll also help with receiving orders, checking food quality and making sure all safety and hygiene practices are followed. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, works well under pressure and takes pride in delivering great food as part of a collaborative team.TASKS:Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes for both daytime and evening service, following established recipes and directions from the Chef to ensure quality, consistency and efficiencyAssist in planning and developing seasonal or event-based menu items, including estimating quantities of ingredients and supporting with menu costings when requiredSet up and maintain daily mise-en-place across all sections, ensuring readiness for service periods and a clean, organised workstation throughout the dayPresent dishes attractively and consistently, in line with the venues casual-modern dining standardsCoordinate the preparation of meals during peak times to ensure prompt and accurate delivery to customersMonitor the freshness and quality of all food items, checking raw and cooked ingredients for spoilage or inconsistencies and rotating stock as necessaryReceive, check, and properly store incoming food deliveries, ensuring they meet food safety standards and are stored in accordance with temperature control guidelinesOperate and care for kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, fryers, and mixers safely and efficiently, reporting any faults or maintenance issues to the ChefClean and sanitise food preparation areas, equipment and storage facilities regularly, ensuring the kitchen meets all health and safety regulationsAdhere to food safety practices including proper handling, allergen awareness, temperature control, and sanitation procedures at all timesRegulate cooking equipment temperatures to ensure dishes are prepared correctly and to the desired standardWork collaboratively with chefs, baristas, and front-of-house staff to coordinate smooth transitions between breakfast, lunch and dinner serviceSupport and guide junior kitchen staff and apprentices during service, contributing to a team-focused and respectful kitchen environmentCommunicate effectively with the wider team to manage workflow, resolve issues, and respond to changing service demandsMonitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and notify the Chef of any stock shortages or ordering needs to ensure consistent kitchen operationsADDITIONAL ATTRIBUTES:Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen managementAbility to work efficiently and stay composed in a fast-paced environmentAttention to detail and consistency in food preparation and presentationTeam player with clear communication skillsReliable, punctual, and adaptable to varying service demandsWillingness to learn, train others, and contribute creativelySALARY:Annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience.TO APPLY:Applications in Word format should be forwarded to us by clicking the Apply button below. #J-18808-Ljbffr
