Its role is to promote confidence in, and provide assurance of compliance with the foreign investment framework to the Australian Government and the community.The Compliance Branch does this through a range of activities which include:educating foreign investors and their advisers on their obligations under the foreign investment legislationassessing and assuring compliance through proactive investigations and other forms of compliance assessmentundertaking enforcement action to address non-compliance and where appropriate, enforcing compliance through penalties and sanctions.About the role:Were seeking applications from experienced and motivated team members for positions in the Compliance Branchs Compliance Frameworks, Risk and Strategy, Monitoring, Audit or Serious Non-Compliance & Enforcement teams. Depending on the role, responsibilities and duties may include:undertaking proactive and responsive compliance activities to assess compliance with Australias foreign investment laws and prevent and detect non-complianceinvestigating potential non-compliance with Australias foreign investment laws and/orassessing compliance reports for triage purposes, analyse data to identify compliance trendsdeveloping internal guidance and procedures to support best practice compliance operations.Working with a high degree of independence, EL1 Assistant Directors will:manage concurrent compliance tasks, projects or investigations, including complex casesinvestigate and deliver enforcement outcomes, including to analyse information and data, plan and carry out investigations, gather evidence, legal analysis and other enforcement-related processesuse analytical capability and professional judgement to evaluate compliance and recommend effective responsesmake regulatory risk assessments to identify priorities for compliance operational activity and evaluating outcomes of those compliance activitiesdevelop and implement policies, procedures and systems to support the lawful and appropriate exercise of compliance and enforcement powersmanage various business or process development processes, including a compliance case database and reporting processessupervise and develop the performance of APS-level team members and support the teams EL2 director in shepherding the performance of the team.Desirable Qualifications / Experience:experience carrying out investigations or evidence-based assessmentsexcellent interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills including the ability to liaise and engage with stakeholders at all levelsability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders;
