You have prior experience working with young adults and a genuine desire to make a positive difference. Proven experience supporting individuals with extremely challenging behaviours due to mental ill-health and/or disability is preferred. Experience supporting and working with Aboriginal people and communities (we strongly encourage and welcome applicants from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities) Knowledge and experience supporting people with complex mental health issues and challenging behaviours Patience, emotional resilience, effective listening skills, and adaptable communication style Ability to advocate and build sustainable support networks Ability to work autonomously and within a team to achieve shared outcomes Proficiency with IT systems on computers and mobile devices About The Role This is an exciting opportunity to join our Gippsland team based in Morwell (head office in Dandenong South), supporting a young adult with AOD and behavioural challenges. You will deliver person-centred support in the home and community, helping individuals develop skills and confidence for greater independence. We seek someone grounded, creative, and quick-thinking, capable of building genuine connections through shared interests and cultural respect. Our approach is to enable, empower individuals to make their own choices, and thrive within their communities. Experience working with challenging behaviours, strong communication skills, and a commitment to culturally respectful practice are essential. The role entails: Providing 2:1 support to consumers in their homes and community settings Meeting individual needs according to behavioural support plans Developing professional relationships with consumers, families, stakeholders, and community members Providing accurate and timely case notes for consistent support Supporting consumers to work towards their individual and NDIS goals This part-time role offers varied shifts across a 24/7 roster (typically 5-8 hours).
