In this dynamic and rewarding position, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of innovative engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include the manufacture, commissioning, testing, maintenance, instruction, preparation, operation and documentation activities of specialised equipment.As a Technical Support Officer (Mechanical), your key responsibilities will include:Providing advice, training, supervision, recommendations, and feedback to staff & students on the operation of workshop equipment, safety and practical engineering design considerations within teaching, research and other College supported activities.Developing, constructing, commissioning, and documenting specialized mechanical equipment from general specifications to Australian Standards where relevant.The manufacture of components according to design drawings, through the operation of general to specialized machinery and equipment.About YouYou are a technically proficient professional with a trade qualification in Fitting and Turning or Toolmaking, complemented by an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent qualification). You will have sound experience with engineering tools and machines and will be highly proficient in the use of manual and numerically controlled machining methods suited to specific construction tasks. You bring a proven track record of independently developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting specialised mechanical equipment. You have a keen eye for detail, a solutions-focused mindset, and a strong customer service ethic.Ideally, you will also bring:Experience with engineering tools and machines and proficient in the use of manual and numerically controlled machining methods suited to specific construction tasks.Skills in reading and understanding mechanical drawings, diagrams, manufacturer data and technical manuals, with the capacity to discuss complex technical matters in a clear accurate manner.Proficiency with the use of Autodesk , SolidWorks , or other industry-based CAD/CAM software.Life at FlindersWe''re transforming and investing in people and facilities to create contemporary, stimulating, and satisfying learning and work environments that reflect our core values of excellence, innovation, courage, and integrity.
