With a nearly 30-year history in the Western Australia, we provide safe, clean and reliable power to large mining and industrial customers and have invested significantly in stable, long-term contracts.The RCC Operator provides daily control and decision making of the Power Stations and here is a chance to build on and future proof your skills. Move between open and combined cycle plants with a mix of reciprocating engines, steam and gas turbines. Operate within an islanded network or be part of the peak demands on the state grid. Get prepared for the integration of solar and BESS.The base location for this residential position is at TransAltas Parkeston Power Station in Kalgoorlie, is shift work with a current roster of 2 days, 2 nights and 4 off and local candidates looking to progress their careers are preferred.A DAY IN THE LIFE Manage the system in the most cost effective manner, maintaining safety of personnelDetailed work orders on plant malfunctions will be created for planning of repairsRecord all relevant data collected after abnormal events, i.e. alarm logs, event logs + trends etc.Log keeping of a high standardAbility to troubleshoot problems with plant equipmentParticipate in incident investigations providing expert opinion in areas of expertiseTraining of new staff members in the operations departmentDaily collaboration with maintenance staff on plant performance and daily required maintenance scheduleABOUT YOUTo be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:Supports and contributes to and environment of open communication and collaboration amongst the entire teamAlways delivers on commitmentsMotivated to learn new skills and equipmentWilling to provide assistance wherever requiredConducts all activities with a high level of integrity & in compliance with TransAltas corporate code of conductShows respect at all times to colleagues, customers and contractorsExcellent organisational and communication skillsAbility to work safely both independently and in a team environmentIntermediate computer skills (email, word, spread sheet, and databases) are requiredWorking knowledge of and the ability to interpret mechanical, electrical and P&ID drawings and specificationsExperienced in a control room environment (not essential, although preferably power generation/distributionNICE TO HAVESThe following qualifications and/or experience are desirable, but not essential:Candidates with a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) in Turbine Operations (TO) and Advanced Boiler (BA) will be highly regarded.THE PERKSPrivate Health InsuranceFamily friendly rosterWork/life balance initiatives, including quarterly wellbeing daysTHE ESSENTIALSSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a valid Police Clearance (within the last six months) and undertake a pre-employment medical.Our Commitment to Our CultureAt TransAlta, were driven by a Culture of Results, Learning, and Purpose.
