Through our programs, we aim to build the capabilities of migrant and refugee, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), and lower socioeconomic status (SES) students who are experiencing educational inequality and disadvantage.Tutoring takes place through several programs:Individual Tutoring Program (ITP): one-on-one tutoring sessions held at public librariesOnline Tutoring Program (OTP): tutoring sessions with one tutor and two students over Zoom implemented during covid-19Homework Clubs (HWC): Out-of-school hours learning support program delivering casual, drop-in group sessions for any students to receive assistance - usually held at partner schools, after schoolIn-School Program (ISP): support offered to teachers, tutoring students during class timeEmbrace also provides significant material support to local students and schools, including donated textbooks. Additionally, Embrace Education seeks out further educational support opportunities for students, such as attendance at VCE revision lectures and seminars.Embrace Education was formed in 2006 through the inspiration and drive of a group of Monash University students and continues to be coordinated and staffed by university students. A key strength of the organisation is the mentoring and support role tutors provide to students, utilising their recent high school experience and perspectives. Embrace gained Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status in 2009, with the Australian Tax Office affirming its charitable status. A second branch of the organisation was established at the University of Melbourne in May 2016.You can read more about Embrace Education and our programs at our website: the In-School ProgramIn our In-School Tutoring program, volunteer tutors help students in a classroom setting during school hours. Tutors work with small groups of students and/or provide individual support. In particular, tutors have recently focused on assisting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in Intensive English Language Programs and New Arrivals Programs, which are designed for students that have recently arrived in Australia. Additionally, tutors assist in Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) classes such as Professional Development or Work-Related Skills, and have assisted in VCE classes as well. Since this program is based within the Monash University Chapter of Embrace Education, the schools that tutors attend are generally located in South-East Melbourne.The Position: In-School Program CoordinatorThe role of the ISP Coordinator is to run the In-School Program in collaboration with our partner schools. This involves liaising with the schools, volunteer tutors, and the Embrace Education committee/staff in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the program.The day-to-day tasks of the ISP Coordinator include:Creating and managing a roster of volunteer tutors at partner schoolsMaintaining timely correspondence with nominated school contacts and volunteer tutors, and ensuring that any issues are appropriately addressedMaintaining a database of active tutors within the programAttending ISP sessions in order to monitor the program, ensure that any issues are identified, and ensure that the school is adequately supportedRegularly meeting with tutors and providing them with supportCollaborating with other Embrace Education committee and staff members on other projects, such as writing grant applications/reportsAdditionally, the ISP Coordinator will work closely with and be held accountable to Embrace Educations volunteer committee to guide the strategic direction and sustainable development of the organisation. This will involve reviewing and improving organisational processes and assisting in the development and pursuit of strategic objectives. This will also involve monitoring and evaluating the success of Embrace Educations programs and identifying areas for improvement.The role would be perfect for those with the time and energy to commit to Embrace Educations values and principles and the desire to gain invaluable experience in the community sector.Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of the ISP Coordinator include, but are not limited to:Maintain relationships with partner schools by providing regular correspondence, tutor (and other) support, and upholding the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding.Coordination of tutors in the In-School program by (including but not limited to) maintaining regular communication with tutors, monitoring attendance at sessions, providing appropriate support, and seeking feedback.Actively working (in collaboration with the committee and staff) to promote, expand, and improve the In-School Program, for example by fostering new school partnerships, developing the tutoring experience, and monitoring and evaluating the program.Maintaining the administrative records of Embrace Educations In-School Program and ensuring effective communication, storage, updating, and transfer of information within the organisation.Contributing to strategic planning of the organisation as well as contributing to other projects in collaboration with the Embrace Education committee and staff.Ensuring a safe environment and compliance with policies and procedures in addition to legal and legislative requirements, including but not limited to Privacy and Child Safety legislationKey Selection CriteriaPassion for addressing educational inequality, and commitment to the values and mission of Embrace Education.High level of communication, interpersonal and stakeholder relationship skillsStrong administrative and organisational skills, including time management, computer literacy (ie.
