The City of Karratha is seeking an experienced and dynamic Waste & Landfill Coordinator to play a key role in shaping our waste operations and advancing our long-term sustainability objectives.About the RoleAs the Waste & Landfill Coordinator, you will lead the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the City''s waste services including landfill and transfer station operations, kerbside waste collections, education initiatives, and implementation of the City''s Waste Management and Resource Recovery Strategy.This senior role is critical in driving the transition to a circular economy and delivering innovative, environmentally responsible waste solutions to the community.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee landfill and transfer station operations at Seven Mile and Wickham sites.Manage kerbside waste and recycling collection contracts.Drive implementation of strategic waste recovery and sustainability initiatives.Lead compliance with DWER licences and site-specific management plans.Coordinate capital works projects, landfill development, and maintenance activities.Develop and deliver community education campaigns and stakeholder engagement.Provide strong leadership to operational teams and supervise technical officers.Monitor budgets, contracts, and environmental performance indicators.What Were Looking ForWe are looking for a motivated leader with:Proven experience in waste operations, landfill management, and project delivery.Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance frameworks.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to manage staff and contractors.A degree in Environmental Science, Waste Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).A passion for driving sustainability and community engagement.Why Join Us?Play a pivotal role in transforming waste into a resource.Work with a progressive local government committed to environmental best practice.Enjoy the lifestyle benefits of working in the Pilbara region.Lead a committed team in delivering innovative waste solutions for the community.For further details including position description and conditions breakdown, and to apply, please click apply now.
