We are a 286-room hotel with 8 conferencing and event facilities hosting all events from Corporate groups to sports teams.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Novotel Canberra. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food quality and kitchen operations. You will:Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and staff managementDevelop and implement new menu items, ensuring creativity and adherence to our culinary standardsTrain and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environmentEnsure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulationsManage inventory, place orders, and control food costsStep in for the Head Chef when necessary, demonstrating strong leadership skillsCollaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and guest satisfactionParticipate in menu planning, food preparation, and platingMaintain a clean and organised kitchen environmentQualificationsRelevant culinary trade qualifications (e.g. Certificate in Commercial Cookery)Minimum 3-5 years of similar experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a 4-5 star hotel environmentAdvanced knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentationStrong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with current food safety supervisor certificationExperience with inventory management systems and budgetingExcellent team leadership and communication skillsProficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and cost controlAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentKnowledge of various cuisines and current culinary trendsPassion for food and commitment to culinary excellenceAdditional InformationIn return for your commitment, we offer:Enjoy discounted Heartist rates across our global network ofproperties, food and beverage venues, and wellness centers.Grow and travel with your career globallyContinuous learning and investment into your capability, including access to Accor Academy training programs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
