Your role at St John of God Bendigo HospitalYou will work in conjunction with theatre staff, responsible for decontamination, inspection, packaging, and sterilisation of surgical instrumentation within the CSSD department.We are seeking an experienced Grade 3 Instrument Technician to join our dynamic Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) team.In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning, assembling, and distributing surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards. Previous experience in a hospital CSSD setting and relevant qualifications are essential.The PositionMaintain cleaning tools and equipment in good condition.Restock cleaning and sterilisation supplies and report low stock.Undertake cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of all reusable medical devices within Main Theatre and Day Surgery units.Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance understanding of instrument cleaning, handling, disinfection, and sterilization processes.Practice good housekeeping to maintain a clean and tidy work area.Maintain efficient, standards-based practice to provide quality medical devices for clinical use.Perform daily and weekly tests and cleaning as required.Keep accurate and thorough documentation.Organize repair servicing via MexOps, tagging out as required.Communicate effectively with all customers and patients using appropriate channels, both formal and informal.You will hold a Certificate III in Health Sterilising Practice for Technicians and have a minimum of 3 years experience as an Instrument Technician. You will demonstrate initiative, reliability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.To succeed in this role, you will have a sound understanding of infection control principles and practices.
