The ALCC is an early intervention program designed to divert Aboriginal families away from the Child Protection system and into culturally safe supports. The Conferencing Convenor is referred to Aboriginal families, including those expecting a baby, who have been reported to Child Protection.Convene and facilitate Aboriginal-led case conferences with cultural sensitivity and expertiseBuild authentic relationships with Aboriginal families, respecting their unique circumstances and cultural needsCollaborate with elders, community leaders, and extended family networksDevelop comprehensive care plans that prioritize cultural connection and family preservationAbout YouDemonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.Extensive knowledge and experience working in the statutory child protection service system, including a sound knowledge of relevant child protection legislation.Proven experience in case management, including the ability to identify risk factors and develop risk management plansAbility to identify when risk levels have escalated and a consultation with Child Protection is requiredAbility to advocate alongside Aboriginal children and families for their interestsDemonstrated ability in facilitating meetings and mediating outcomes with families and stakeholdersRequirements:Certificate, Diploma, and/or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Work and/or relevant field.
