Located atop The Jump-Up, a stunning mesa in Central West Queensland, the Museum houses the worlds largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils.Since its establishment in 2009, the Museum has grown into an iconic attraction, featuring a Fossil Preparation Laboratory, the March of the Titanosaurs exhibition, the Gondwana Stars Observatory, and Dinosaur Canyon. Additionally, the Museum manages Dinosaur Stampede National Monument at Lark Quarry Conservation Park, the site of the worlds only known record of a dinosaur stampede.The Museum is entering its next stage of growth and is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee its physical infrastructure, ensuring that operations run smoothly in support of this world-class institution.A career thats 100 million years in the making!As Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the Museums diverse facilities and grounds, as well as its offsite locations, including the Dinosaur Stampede National Monument and the AAOD Staff Village.More specifically, your responsibilities will include:Managing the Museums buildings, grounds, and infrastructure to ensure they remain safe, functional, and well-maintainedOverseeing maintenance operations for vehicles, machinery, and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standardsDocumenting procedures, managing site services (power, water, communications), and coordinating pest control and waste managementSupervising a small team, including grounds staff, and providing hands-on assistance where requiredEnsuring workplace health and safety (WHS) compliance across the Museum and its satellite sitesAssisting in the Museums ongoing development and future projectsThis is a full-time role based in Winton, Queensland, with a fixed-term contract from 18 August 2025 to 31 October 2026, with potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.Youll thrive in this role if youThis role is ideal for someone with a passion for nature and the outdoors, will have strong hands-on background in property maintenance, facilities management, or a related trade (e.g., plumbing, welding, carpentry, or mechanical repair). We are looking for a proactive and adaptable professional with strong problem-solving abilities and a broad maintenance skillset. The ideal candidate will have:Essential qualifications and experience:A valid Australian manual drivers licenceA current Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one)Facilities management or maintenance experience in a relevant industryBasic mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, or general maintenance skillsA strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulationsHighly regarded qualifications:A trade qualification (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.)Forklift licence and/or heavy-vehicle licence (light or medium rigid)WHS certification (White Card or equivalent)Previous experience working in a remote or rural environmentExperience in project management and business operations will be highly beneficial, as this role requires overseeing teams, managing budgets, and ensuring efficient documentation and reporting.You should be a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment while taking ownership of your responsibilities.
