Metcash is looking for a highly organised and proactive Primary Freight Coordinator to manage and streamline the movement of ambient freight across our network.In this vital role, youll be responsible for coordinating the end-to-end freight journey from scheduling pickups to ensuring on-time delivery of goods all while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards. Reporting to the Primary Freight Operations Manager, youll play a key part in keeping our freight operations running smoothly.In this RoleManage the end-to-end coordination of both ambient and temperature controlled freight deliveries from Metcash suppliers to our distribution centres, ensuring smooth and efficient transportWork closely with carriers, suppliers, and internal Metcash teams to optimise freight routes and guarantee on-time deliveriesOversee timely and accurate preparation of freight documentation, identify and resolve discrepancies, manage billing and invoicing, track KPIs, and coordinate receipt and handover processesImplement and maintain strict quality control measures to ensure the integrity of freight throughout the supply chainStay informed of and enforce compliance with industry regulations and Metcash policies related to the handling and transportation of goodsMaintain precise records of freight operations and generate regular performance reports to identify opportunities for improvementBuild and nurture strong working relationships with freight carriers and key stakeholders, supporting ongoing business development initiativesUphold the highest standards of workplace safety and compliance to ensure safe, efficient operations for employees, customers, and vendorsEnsure full compliance with Chain of Responsibility obligations in all freight activitiesYoure Likely a Match If5+ years in a freight coordinator or related roleExcellent attention to detail and communication skillsExperience in freight, logistics and/or supply chain, including best practice methodologiesExperience using transport management systemsIn-depth understanding of warehouse and transportation managementIntermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suiteLife at Metcash Enjoy a 5th week of annual leave every year after your first year.
