As Manager Governance & Risk Services, youll be at the heart of this change, leading the charge to embed a culture of integrity, elevate governance maturity, and drive smarter, more efficient ways of working.This newly created role is your opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up. Youll design frameworks, shape strategy, and influence decision-making at the highest levels all while protecting the interests of the Council and the community it serves.About the RoleReporting to the Director Corporate Services and working with the Executive Management team your Governance, Risk Management or Legal background and experience will influence and enable contemporary governance and responsible risk management practices and behaviours across the Council.All systems need to be aligned to reflect the openness, transparency and accountability being driven from the top down. Accordingly, management will rely on this position for support and guidance across several areas so your advice around good practice governance and support generally, will be sought. More specifically the role will oversee:Strategic governance and enterprise risk frameworksAudit and Risk Committee coordination and internal audit programsBusiness improvement initiatives that deliver real, measurable impactYoull be supported by a Governance Officer, a soon-to-be-appointed Lead Business Improvement Analyst, and a Communications team of five. Together, youll create clarity, drive change, and build trust across the organisation.About YouThis is about business improvement, compliance and risk management. Your experience and referees will substantiate your passion for, and desire to specialise in corporate governance and risk. You will also be renowned for your ability to interpret legislation, policies, programs and practices and proficiency in liaising and negotiating with relevant agencies.Evaluation of risk management practices and implementation, proficiency across the Microsoft Office programs as well as advanced report writing, and analysis skills are all pre-requisites.Tertiary qualified, your ability to demonstrate being strategic as well as a hands on subject matter expert around governance and risk will over-ride which stream in the corporate or government arena brought you to this point.Youre a confident, forward-thinking professional with:Tertiary qualifications in Governance, Law, Risk, or Public AdministrationA track record in governance, compliance, or business improvement ideally gained in a local government environmentExceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skillsA passion for public service and a drive to make things betterWhy Maranoa?If you are interested in driving change in an organisation and enjoy seeing your efforts result in enabling people to embrace change through responsible governance, this is an outstanding opportunity.
