Umwelt is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Brisbane team, as we continue to grow and expand our Water Services group.About the RoleAs a Principal Hydrogeologist, you will play a pivotal role in leading groundwater projects, offering expert guidance on hydrogeological assessments, water resource management, and environmental impact evaluations.You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, oversee data collection and analysis, and provide strategic advice to clients on groundwater sustainability and regulatory compliance. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys guiding junior staff, can prioritise tasks and find innovative solutions to help address technical or project challenges, and thrives on delivering great technical work.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership through the delivery of groundwater projects, and support the growth and success of the groundwater teamContribute to business development activities and continual improvementDemonstrate and deliver on technically accurate groundwater data analysis and reportingLead small to large-scale projects, from proposal to completion, building strong client relationships and communicationWork across a broad range of project types, from water/groundwater management plans, compliance reporting, trigger or water supply/security investigations, ecohydrological assessments, impact assessments and mine closure studiesProvide expert advice on groundwater/water issues, regulations, and best practicesCollaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other technical disciplines (i.e. ecology, social, cultural heritage and spatial analysis) to develop innovative and tailored solutionsProvide positive leadership and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative, productive and fun work environmentAbout YouDegree qualifications in Hydrogeology, Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.Minimum of 8 years of experience in water/environmental consultingSound capabilities in managing hydrogeological projectsFamiliarity with numerical groundwater modelling preferred by not essentialStrong leadership with a people focus, thriving in a fun, friendly environment that values work-life balance, while delivering innovative, high-quality technical workStrong analytical and problem-solving, and project management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and conciselyProven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environmentWhats In It for You?We care about our people and want to help you grow in your career.
