Job Description

Reporting to the Supervisor Parks & Reserves the Team Leader Arboriculture is responsible for leading a team in developing, setting and monitoring outcomes to achieve work area programs and projects. The Team Leader Arboriculture is also required to positively assist their team in delivering the technical aspects of the role to ensure that the organisation is able to meet its corporate objectives.Outdoor Team Leaders are expected to meet the capability standards for Level 2 as described in the Outdoor Team Leader Classification Structure.Our leadership capabilities outline responsibilities for enabling a culture that affirms organisational commitment, taking a coaching approach, being people focused, making an impact through effective influencing and self-awareness to support team members to reach their potential to enhance team performance. Leaders are accountable for embedding practices within management operating framework (MOF) to support Councils strategic vision.Leadership in all its forms is fundamental to Department and Portfolio success. The Team Leader Arboricultureis expected to:Clarify Roles & Objectives: Ensure team members understand their roles, have meaningful work, clear goals, and development plans aligned with team and organisational objectives.Support Development: Coach and mentor team members to achieve outcomes, and contribute to performance reviews.Promote Vision: Communicate the organisation''s Purpose and Vision, and help team members see how their roles contribute.Key responsibilities include:Deliver Operational Excellence: Lead the team to achieve objectives, maintain high safety standards, and ensure Council open spaces are maintained in line with Maintenance Service Levels (MSL).Team Leadership & Development: Provide technical guidance, manage probation and licensing requirements, and support team growth through effective planning, coaching, and training.Strategic Planning & Reporting: Collaborate with leadership to develop and review work plans, contribute to business planning and performance processes, and monitor budgets and resources.Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Respond to customer requests within agreed service levels and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational and community goals.Compliance and Continuous Improvement: Ensure compliance with organisational policies and legislation, and drive a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing work practices.QualificationsThe successful incumbent will hold:Certificate III ArboricultureCurrent Class MR LicenceTemporary Traffic Management (TTM) Supervisory TicketWork Safely in the Contruction Industry (White Card)Willingness to undertake a National Crime Check Police Clearance and pre-employment medical assessmentWhy work for usA career at the City of Tea Tree Gully is an opportunity to forge long-lasting community connections while cultivating a fulfilling work life.
