Job Title: Southern Plan of Management CoordinatorThe Southern Plan of Management Coordinatorplays a vital role in protecting the Great Barrier Reef by promoting and embedding Darumbal culture, knowledge, and values into the management of marine protected areas within the southern Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.In this role you will ensure enhanced protection and recognition of the Indigenous heritage and cultural values of Darumbal Sea Country, empowering the voice of Darumbal People by supporting meaningful participation in the management and decision-making processes of the Southern Plan of Management, increasing awareness among Darumbal People of developments and activities within the Southern Plan of Management and broader marine areas and fostering collaboration by creating opportunities for information sharing and partnership between Darumbal People, Permit Holders, other Traditional Owner groups, and relevant stakeholders.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead the development and establishment of the Southern Plan of Management (SPOM) that reflects and supports Darumbal values and aspirations for Darumbal Sea Country.Ensure alignment of the SPOM with the DPAC RNTBC & Related Entities Strategic Plan.Contribute to strengthening the resilience of Darumbal land and sea country by applying and integrating Darumbal knowledge systems into planning and management.Represent Darumbal at SPOM related meetings and engagements, including preparation, participation, and/or presentation as required.Engage with and receive cultural guidance and advice from Darumbal cultural advisors and Elders.Enhance knowledge and understanding of on ground use and management activities to effectively contribute to the development and implementation of the SPOM.Support the professional development and mentoring of Darumbal/Tunuba Rangers and other Darumbal staff.Be an active and collaborative member of the Darumbal team, consistently delivering high-quality work and contributing positively to team culture.Undertake other relevant duties and tasks as required to support project or organisational objectives.Safely operate vehicles and/or plant and equipment, in accordance with training and organisational procedures.Attend TUMRA (Traditional Use of Marine Resources Agreement) and Cultural Resilience Project events as required.ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEStrong understanding of community engagement principlesSignificant experience in similar land and sea projects or community engagement rolesDemonstrated project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver on timeExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse communitiesProven track record to achieve organisational goalsStrong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to cultural preservation and community engagementBENEFITSAt Darumbal, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that celebrates the unique contributions of our employees.
