The business has over 550 employees across Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand with a blueprint for further growth this year.Title: Database AdministratorContract: 12-Month Fixed-Term ContractDetails: Start date to October - Initially 3 days per week; Increasing to 5 days per week post-October. Salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis.RoleWe are seeking a hands-on and collaborative Database Administrator (DBA) to join a high-performing team. This is a T&M engagement focused on supporting business-as-usual (BAU) database operations, with the flexibility to contribute to project-based cloud migration and uplift initiatives during quieter BAU periods.You will be working across a hybrid technology stack involving Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Managed Instances, Oracle (on-prem and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), and Microsoft technologies.This role suits a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, a willingness to share knowledge, and the ability to work effectively without constant supervision.Key ResponsibilitiesBAU Support (Primary Focus)Maintain and support a mix of legacy and modern database environments, including:On-prem SQL Server (2008/2014) and Oracle databases.SQL and Oracle Cloud platforms.Perform routine patching, performance tuning, job scheduling, backups, and data integrity checks.Use backup and recovery tools like Rubrik and Commvault.Project Engagement (As Needed)Contribute to on-prem to Azure SQL Managed Instance migration projects.Assist in the uplift of newly adopted Oracle Retail systems.Participate in discovery, planning, and execution of database migrations and uplift projects.Handle the migration of SQL Agent Jobs, SSIS packages, CDC, and user roles.Qualifications Required5+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server databases, including versions 2008, 2014, and 2017.Strong expertise in SQL Server to Azure Managed Instance migration, including SSIS, SQL Agent Jobs, and CDC.Demonstrated experience working with Azure cloud services, particularly SQL Managed Instances and database migration tools.Solid understanding of Oracle databases (on-premise and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure),Experience supporting Oracle Retail environments or other retail domain systems is highly desirable.Scripting experience in SQL, PowerShell, Bash, or similar.Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.Why Join Seisma?Professional GrowthWere committed to your continuous learning.
