This is a new position, working in a multidisciplinary team providing screening, assessment, case management and short-term therapy programs within various community health centres in each of the three sectors across Northern Sydney (Hornsby Ku-ring-gai, Northern Beaches and North Shore / Ryde). We are committed to ensure that all our people feel respected and participate safely within a work environment without aggression, sexual harassment, discrimination, and racism.Where you''ll be workingIn various Community Health Centres in Northern Sydney Local Health District - This position will work in Hornsby Community Health Centre, Dalwood Community Health Centre and Royal North Shore Community Health Centre.What You''ll Be DoingThe Senior Speech Pathologist (SP) works collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary Kids Compass Clinic Service, which is part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Child, Youth and Family (CYF) Community Health Service. Professionally and operationally the role reports to the CYF Speech Pathology Team Leader. Clinically the Kids Compass Speech Pathologist works as part of a multidisciplinary team providing screening, assessment, case management and short-term therapy programs within various community health centres in each of the three sectors across Northern Sydney (Hornsby Ku-ring-gai, Northern Beaches and North Shore / Ryde). This position has a specialist role in the management of children with suspected neurodevelopmental differences in the first 2000 days of life (pre-diagnostic case management and delivery of therapeutic programs). The Kids Compass Clinic is a family-centred, integrated clinical service that delivers clinical outcomes, improved patient flow, and improved efficiency for children with neurodevelopmental differences.The Kids Compass SP role is a senior paediatric clinical role, with expertise in childrens development in the First 2000 days of life, and is accountable for providing safe, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, evidence-based, child-centered, neurodiversity affirming, specialist SP services to children and their families. This service is expected to assist families to transition into NDIS ECA funded services throughout their journey and aims to empower families with information to support their child through their ongoing therapeutic journey.This clinical role is expected to hold experience and specialist knowledge in working with preschool age children who have developmental support needs, and their families, particularly within the community health context. The incumbent is expected to work autonomously to apply high level clinical reasoning skills in both participating in and then reviewing childrens developmental profiles in a multidisciplinary context. The SP will then work together with the family and the multidisciplinary team to identify the next steps for the family to access ongoing goal-based programs and supports. This will involve case-conferences and skilled clinical handover. Additionally, the role also needs to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in assisting the CYF SP Team Leader to collect data and participate in service evaluation.People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following CriteriaA bachelor or post graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
