Job Description

The Office for Early Childhood Development has been formed with a clear mandate: to create a fairer and better future for all children in South Australia by implementing the accepted recommendations of the Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care.As the steward of the early childhood development system, the Office will act on government''s behalf, and work in collaboration with the sector, to organise and connect the system to reduce developmental vulnerability.This includes providing universal access to quality, teacher-led preschool from the age of 3, growing and sustaining a quality early childhood workforce, and greater supports and connected services for families.This is a chance to play a significant role in the generational Flying Start reforms, driving better outcomes for all South Australias children.About this role:Reporting to the Assistant Director, Communications & Engagement this role will work closely with colleagues and executives across the Office to effectively communicate priorities, support change and engagement communications, and leverage channels across a broad range of stakeholders.This role will set and evaluate clear communications objectives, understand audience motivation and insight, and apply the principles of behavioural change in designing communications approaches and solutions. This role will provide strategic leadership for the Media and Communications team, supporting a positive and high-performing culture.Working within a fast-paced and politically sensitive environment, the position needs to be adaptable and able to work across multiple projects, priorities and business areas efficiently, effectively and with a strong focus on evaluation and improvement.About you:To be considered for this role, you will have:Communication: Exceptional communication skills with extensive experience developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic communications strategies that set clear, measurable objectives.Leadership and vision: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and projects, setting clear objectives and motivating others towards achieving strategic goals within a complex or reform-driven environment.Project Management: Proven experience in planning, developing and administering projects to achieve successful outcomes; including implementing strategies for monitoring outcomes, and implementing risk management principles.Negotiation, persuasion, engagement: Ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with people at a range of levels, on a range of relevant matters to understand needs and requirements and successfully balance competing demands. Build productive professional relationships in the and actively develop and maintain stakeholder confidence.Autonomy: Ability to work under limited direction and use initiative to meet tight deadlines. The incumbent will need to apply judgement with decision making and escalate these appropriately, when necessary, along with proposed solutionsTime and task management and planning: Ability to manage complex and competing priorities and develop effective resolutions both individually and through working with others. Ability to manage a work program and keep others engaged and informed on delivery and meet expected timeframes. Exceptional time management.
