Our client, a complex Queensland Government Department, is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for their Data Modernisation Project. The Project will establish and transition to a new Enterprise Data Platform based on Microsoft Fabric, using best practice foundations and enabling analytical and reporting activities in the new platform. Role Overview As Senior Project Manager, you will be accountable for leading and managing the Data Modernisation Project to: Establish a modern data environment including data lifecycle management within a simplified data architecture. Implement appropriate support, tooling and technology. Formalise data governance activities. Elevate data literacy across the department. Establish best practice foundations across the new platform. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership and project management skills within a data management modernisation environment. You should demonstrate the ability to effectively manage a data management projects scope and stakeholder expectations. High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills are essential to work with executive leaders, vendors, ICT teams, and other modernisation projects. You will ensure timely delivery within scope, time, and budget, and foster a high-performance, collaborative culture throughout the project lifecycle. The Team The Data and Analytics business unit leads data collection, management, and analysis, supporting organisation-wide reporting using technologies like SQL, Excel, and Power BI. Key Responsibilities Manage the full project lifecycle, scope, goals, and objectives to establish a robust Enterprise Data Platform within two years, supporting transition to new analytics patterns. Facilitate communication between project team, stakeholders, and senior management, providing regular updates and managing expectations. Develop and maintain project artefacts such as plans, schedules, reports, and logs for risks, issues, and dependencies. Coordinate cross-functional teams including IT, stakeholders, and vendors, fostering collaboration and high performance. Monitor project progress, quality, and ensure delivery within budget and timeline, managing resources effectively. Identify and address risks and challenges proactively, implementing mitigation strategies. Provide strategic thinking, innovation, and negotiation to deliver stakeholder outcomes and enhance project effectiveness. Apply appropriate project management methodologies and tools, including benefits realization and risk management. Role Requirements Proven success in managing similar projects with at least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager, including end-to-end management and transition to BAU. Experience in data platform architecture, design, and development; understanding of data modelling and master data management principles.
