We are an Early Learning to Year 6 school.What we offer:Join a passionate and collaborative teamThe opportunity to make a difference to our studentsBe part of a leading institutionA part time role working school hours across 4 daysAs our Counsellor you will promote and support the well-being of students from Foundation to Year 6 by developing and implementing programs that address their mental, emotional, and physical health. This position fosters resilience, problem-solving, and social skills while providing one-on-one and group support to students facing challenges like mental health issues, trauma, or family disruptions. It also involves coordinating workshops for parents and caregivers on student well-being.Main responsibilities:Focus on promoting resilience, problem-solving, and social skills through targeted programsProvide direct one-on-one and group support to students facing challenges such as mental health issues, trauma, or family disruptionsManage complex behavioural situationsWork closely with deputies, the Family Support Coordinator, and Learning Enrichment teachers to monitor and respond to student well-beingCoordinate and facilitate workshops aimed at educating parents and caregivers on topics related to student well-beingObserve students and interpret observationsAssist the Principal and teaching staff in the referral of students and/or their families to local community agencies and specialists, (e.g. Psychologists, psychiatrists)Accurately document all interventions and support measures, ensuring that records are kept up-to-date and confidentialStay informed about current trends, best practices, and research in the field of student well-beingWhat you will bring:A minimum of Certificate IV in Youth Work, Pastoral Care, or an equivalent qualification, and preferably qualifications in education, counsellingA current Working with Children clearanceMandatory Reporting CertificationCurrent First Aid certification for Schools and CentresSuperior communication skills, with the ability to recognise and value each student''s abilities and qualitiesExperience in supporting the well-being of children and families, particularly within a school or community settingHighly experienced in counselling processes and student behaviour management strategiesA positive and encouraging demeanour, with the ability to relate effectively to children and their familiesKnowledge of Restorative Practices and contemporary primary teaching and learning methodologiesAwareness of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to student well-beingPersonal commitment to the School''s Vision, Mission, and Values, with integrity in all actionPassion for working with and supporting children in their primary education journeyTo Apply:Click apply now and upload a current Resume addressing the role criteria and your passion for this role.Application Process:All applicants will be contacted via email in the first instance to advise if progressing or if unsuccessful.
