This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.What is needed?The Rail Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, integration, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of rail systems to ensure the successful delivery of rail infrastructure projects. The role will require collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines, while driving efficiency, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopment and implementation of the track and signalling (rail) construction methodologyProvide technical guidance on rail designManage the integration of the Rail Systems with civil, structural, and third-party interfacesManage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials to achieve program effectivelyManaging the effective delivery of occupations, including the staging of all works being conducted during the possessionsResponsible for cost forecasting of rail works and management of the R&O relatingWorking with key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure timely communication and coordination of worksWork with the client to ensure compliance with Standards and Specifications and manage any change requirementsEnsure that the team meets the project requirements, safety standards, Rail Safety requirements, and operational performance criteriaMonitoring of progress to schedule, identifying and resolving project risks or issues and realising opportunitiesManage the procurement requirements for the delivery of the worksLead and mentor a team of track and signalling engineers and supervisors, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and safety, and providing technical support and guidance to team members and stakeholdersTo Be The Successful CandidateTo succeed in this role, it is essential you are an experienced Rail Systems Specialist, with a track record in developing and implementing high-quality solutions for customers. This will include;EssentialA tertiary engineering qualification in engineering or similarA high level of experience in rail construction and staging on major infrastructure projectsDemonstrated understanding of rail safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirementsSkills And CompetenciesManagement of multidisciplinary rail construction project teamsExcellent Project Management and organisational skillsExperience of P6 or other time chainage softwareStrong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate excellent client relationship and stakeholder managementDemonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilitiesDesirableChartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent accreditationExperience working within an Australian rail environment and familiarity with Australian standardsKnowledge of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, verification, and validationKey RelationshipsInternal: Project teams, Engineering teams, Safety teams, Commercial teamsExternal: Clients, regulatory authorities, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholdersWork Environment And ConditionsPrimarily office-based with regular site visits required during the design and mobilisation phase, with a 2:1 roster on site during constructionMay involve travel and extended working hours to meet project deadlinesAbout YouExperience on complex Rail/Infrastructure projectsWilling to DIDOBe open to working a 2:1 roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)Or, willing to relocate yourself within an hours commute of Cootamundra/Stockinbingal.Some Of The Benefits Of The Role IncludeJoining an established and successful business operating throughout Australia and New ZealandBeing part of a high performing team of committed and talented expertsJohn Holland is people first company we will work on the development of your career and also provide a very competitive salary package and employee benefits programWere about connecting your sense of purpose to ours.
