The role is permanent, part time (22.8 hours per week) based at Mater Health, South Brisbane campus.The Refugee Health Network Queensland is auspice by Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health and plays an integral role in promoting the health and wellbeing of people from a refugee background across the state. The Network Coordinator is responsible for maintaining an engaged network of health services, settlement agencies, communities, government and non-government services who work with people from a refugee background.The coordinator takes active role in activities that promote collaboration across Queensland and is guided by the Queensland Health, Refugee Health and Wellbeing Policy and Action Plan (2022-2027) . The incumbent will be required to provide secretariat and strategic support to the various advisory and working groups of the Network. The role is expected to provide high level advice on policy and strategy to the leaders of refugee health including the Director of Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health and Queensland Health. The coordinator has a key role in monitoring trends and assessing and responding to emerging needs.To build the capacity and facilitate coordination of healthcare of people from a refugee backgrounds and address health inequality through a partnership approach across all key sectors and communitiesTo support services to be more accessible and responsive to people from refugee backgrounds including in regional areasTo improve service coordination and integration of care across the patient journeyTo contribute to policy and research initiativesTo coordinate Network and associated working groupsCoordinate Network activities and support key projects to improve equity and access to effective health care including:Act as secretariat for the Refugee Health Partnership Advisory Group Queensland (RH PAGQ) and work closely with the Chair to prepare for quarterly meetings including all minutes, agenda, correspondence and in-between meetings actions as requiredAct as facilitator and/or chair of identified Network working groups and ensure minutes, agenda, follow up actions and communication are managedWork in partnership with advisory groups and key stakeholders, including Refugee Health Advisory Group (known as G11), Queensland Health, Clinical Advisory Group and Refugee Health GP Fellow, and Refugee Health Network of Australia (RHeaNA)Develop strategic priorities for the Network and implement the annual Network work planCoordinate key forums e.g., clinical education, community consultations, in partnership with key stakeholder organisationsProvide support to funded projects, resource distribution and communication with broader NetworkDevelop and deliver presentations to external audiences on the work of the RHNQ, current policy environment and the sectorDevelop and deliver high quality reports and written documentation of activities of the network. Maintain files and records and fulfil data collection requirementsMonitor emerging trends in relation to refugee and asylum seeker health and wellbeing to enable preparation of briefs, submissions, and strategic advice to support the work of Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health and external partners including Queensland HealthReporting to Health Integration Manager and providing high level advice on policy and strategy to the Director of the Mater Refugee and Multicultural HealthAbout youQualification (undergraduate degree) and/or experience in health services, community development, human services, public health, social work or equivalent.Skills & Knowledge:High level communication skills, oral & written, and negotiation skills with experience in managing complex partnerships and especially within culturally and linguistically diverse contextsProven leadership in advocacy with successful experience in strategic thinking, managing multiple deadlines and ability to prioritise tasksDemonstrated commitment to access and equity in health underpinned by knowledge of the refugee contextKnowledge of the Australian health systemsExperience in working across different sectors including government, non-government and communityIdentify with, and articulate, the philosophy and ethical standards of the Sisters of Mercy as it relates to the Mater Health ServicesDemonstrated competence using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other applicationsExperience working with or identifying as a person from a refugee background or CALD communityis desirableMater is Queenslands largest not-for-profit healthcare provider, delivering exceptional care to nearly 700,000 patients each year across 11 (soon to be 12) hospitals.
