In this vital role, you will ensure the delivery of reliable, timely, and compliant construction materials testing services, while supporting quality, training, and operational excellence.Your expertise will contribute to upholding our NATA and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditations, mentoring junior technicians, and driving regional capacity growth.In the role of Senior Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:Laboratory OperationsConduct laboratory testing to Australian Standard (AS), RMS, ASTM and TMR requirements (where relevant).Manage sample workflow and test prioritisation.Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure compliance and reliability.Document test results accurately and issue reports under NATA endorsement where applicable.Quality AssuranceEnsure laboratory work is conducted under ISO/IEC 17025.Participate in quality reviews, audits, inter-laboratory comparisons and corrective actions.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all quality activities.Staff DevelopmentTrain, mentor, and audit junior technical staff.Support performance reviews and development plans with the Laboratory Manager.Contribute to maintaining a positive, professional team culture aligned with company values.Health & SafetyFollow and enforce laboratory safety protocols.Conduct toolbox talks and participate in incident prevention and reporting processes.Maintain safe work practices and identify potential risks proactively.The successful applicant will have the required skills & qualifications:Essential5-7 years'' industry experience as a NATA signatory (Level 4+).Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent tertiary qualification.High-level understanding of NATA and ISO/IEC 17025 systems.Demonstrated testing capability across soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt.Strong organisational and time management skills.DesirableExperience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).Previous exposure to Queensland TMR or other road authority specifications.Familiarity with project management systems such as Deltek VantagePoint.Valid First Aid Certificate, PDMG licence, and White Card.This is a full-time permanent position with flexibility depending on project demands. Based in the Sunshine Coast, with occasional travel to project or field locations. PPE, laptop, and training will be provided as per role requirements.Want to join the team?
