Join to apply for the Electrical/Automation Project Engineer role at Design Build1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicantsJoin to apply for the Electrical/Automation Project Engineer role at Design BuildOur client, a leading industrial manufacturing company are looking to recruit an experienced Automation Engineer with excellent Siemens PLC knowledge, to join their team on the Mornington peninsula.Automation / Electrical Project Management12 months + full time contract role - immediate start - Mornington peninsulaOngoing training and developmentSenior Automation EngineerOur client, a leading industrial manufacturing company are looking to recruit an Automation Engineer to join their growing site team south of Melbourne, to work on a variety of exciting upgrade projects.The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplined team reporting to the Project Manager.Project DetailsDelivery of automation work packages across various Capital Projects as determined by the approved plant Capital Budget. Typically process line equipment upgrade including electrical and automation equipment.TasksProgramming of PLCs and Safety PLCsExperience in automation interfacing and protocols such as Profibus & Profinet. Hands on programming experience, including specification and design on major PLC brands.Setting up new PLC hardware and software from scratchNavigating and understanding code in existing PLCsProgramming of Human Machine interface programming and specification with exposure to brands such as Citect, Panel View and WinCCDeveloping and authoring commissioning and test plans to validate safety PLC codeConduct hardware and software training for technical personnelExperience with efficient alarm design and fault-finding guides.Input to all phases of a project within the automation scope of services as required by the Project Manager/EngineerDesign of electrical and automated control systems including Human Machine Interface (HMI) developmentEnsures full compliance of work undertaken according to relevant Company and IEEE StandardsCreate project technical performance specifications, safety requirement specifications and functional descriptionsSelects the appropriate technology for projects (PLC, Drive, Instruments, Sensors, Valves, Actuators, MCC, Motors, etc.) and ensures that they are fully compatibleDesign drawings for construction of the physical components of electrical and automation systems including, but not limited to the following:Single Line Diagrams, Motor Control Schematics/specifications, Control panel layout & designElectrical power distribution systems design and specificationI/O wiringLoop drawingsNetwork system designPrepare technical reports and client correspondences / presentations to project stakeholdersReview and prepare detailed specifications and contract documents for procurement of major electrical and controls equipment as well as construction document packagesActively involved and responsible for installation and commissioning of automation work packages for specific capital projectsExperience & SkillsElectrical and/or Automation engineering background, including Instrumentation and PLC systems, with an associated Automation Controls, Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering degree.Minimum 7 years relevant industrial experience and participation in the development of engineering projects as part of a multidisciplinary team (preferably including different products and technologies in Automation areas)Extensive Experience with PLC level, SCADA, or communication protocols required for semi-auto or full automation of tools or material handling systems.Strong preference for experience with Siemens 300 and 1500 series PLC and Citect SCADA systems.Strong preference for experience with safe access design, programming and commissioningAbility to troubleshoot using P&ID and electrical diagramsKnowledge of Ethernet I/O networksExperience with the following would be beneficial:o Material handling, and warehouse management systemso Cranes, and associated automation systemso Experience with GEM80 PLCso iBA data logging.o DC Drives & Motorso AC Drives & Motorso Machine Safety Certifiedo Safeguarding & Safe AccessEngineering Registration RequirementsThe Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019(the Act) commenced on 1 July 2021.The Act requires you to be registered with the Business Licensing Authority (BLA)to provide professional engineering services in a prescribed area of engineering in Victoria, or from a location outside Victoria, if the services are intended for Victoria.See for further details.It is a strongly preferred that candidates are currently registered to provide professional engineering services in Victoria.If candidates are not currently registered, they must be eligible for registration and commit to commencing the assessment and registration process on appointment.Design & Build specializes in recruitment for the Construction, Manufacturing, Engineering & Property industries on a national basis.
