If you are an experienced insurance professional with a passion for client service and looking to grow your career in a supportive, dynamic firm, this opportunity may be for you.About the RoleWe are seeking a motivated Client Service Manager with a specialisation in Risk Insurance. In this role, you will be the go-to for all aspects of personal insurance operations and client service, supporting our Financial Advisors in delivering outstanding insurance advice and service. This position is critical in managing an extensive portfolio of insurance clients (over 500+) as well as new insurance business.As the Insurance Specialist CSM, you will drive the end-to-end insurance process for our clients from initial pre-assessment and application, through underwriting, to policy implementation and ongoing service, including claims handling. You will work closely with our financial advisors (and occasionally with our accounting and lending teams) to ensure clients life insurance, income protection, Total & Permanent Disability (TPD), and trauma cover needs are met with excellence.This is a full-time role, but we are open to flexible arrangements for the right candidate (for example, adjusted hours during school times or a partially remote schedule). After initial training, you can expect support for one day per week working from home as part of our commitment to work-life balance.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:Act as the primary point of contact for all insurance client enquiries. You will be the friendly and reliable first stop for clients questions about their life, disability, and income protection policies, providing timely and exceptional service at all times.Drive the end-to-end insurance advice and implementation process. Manage the workflow of insurance cases for the advisors from initial needs analysis and pre-underwriting assessments (reviewing medical or financial pre-disclosures) through to preparing insurance quotes and applications, liaising with insurance providers, overseeing underwriting requirements, and getting policies issued successfully. You will ensure every step is completed accurately and efficiently.Coordinate and manage insurance claims for clients with care and diligence. In the event of a client claim, take ownership of the claims lodgement and management process: help clients complete claim forms, gather required medical and financial evidence, submit to insurers, and follow up regularly on progress.Provide technical support to advisors on insurance strategies and product selection. Leverage your insurance product knowledge to assist our Financial Advisors in comparing and selecting the most suitable insurance solutions for clients. This may involve using tools like Xplans Risk Researcher to compare policy features and underwriting criteria across various insurers. Youll help prepare insurance recommendations and reports, ensuring that the advice we present considers each clients health, occupation, and financial context.Ensure compliance and accuracy of client insurance records. Maintain meticulous electronic files and records for all insurance applications, policy documents, and client communications. Youll double-check that all advice implementation (Statements of Advice, Record of Advice for insurance) is executed correctly and that our compliance standards are met, with all client files up-to-date and audit-ready.Collaborate with the broader team and support other Client Service Managers as needed. While your focus will be on insurance, you will be part of the wider client services team. You may assist colleagues during peak times or participate in firm-wide projects to improve operational workflows.Qualifications and ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have the following background:Experience in insurance or financial services: Essential: At least 2-3 years in a financial planning Client Services or insurance administration role. We strongly prefer candidates with around 5+ years of hands-on experience in life insurance operations for example, working in an insurance companys underwriting, claims, or new business department, or in an advisory firm handling insurance cases.Product Knowledge: Solid understanding of life insurance, income protection, TPD, and trauma insurance products and their key features. You should be familiar with how these policies work and the typical requirements for underwriting and claims.Qualifications: There are no strict formal education requirements for this role we value practical experience.Technology Skills: Proficiency with financial services software and tools. Experience using Xplan (financial planning software) or a similar CRM system is a strong plus, as our insurance process is managed through such platforms. Good general computer skills (MS Office suite, PDF editing for forms, etc.) are assumed.Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date awareness of the insurance industry and regulations. Any exposure to current life insurance industry practices in Australia (such as knowledge of recent changes in insurance codes, underwriting trends, or claims handling procedures) will help you hit the ground running.Skills and AttributesSuccessful candidates will demonstrate:Exceptional client focus and empathy. In insurance, you will work with people facing illness, injury or loss an ideal candidate can show empathy, patience, and professionalism in these situations.Strong organisational skills and a process-driven mindset. This role involves many moving parts and sometimes unexpected urgent tasks (e.g., a sudden insurance claim). You must be highly organised, able to prioritise effectively, and excel at managing a dynamic workflow.Attention to detail and accuracy. Insurance admin requires meticulous attention from filling out application forms correctly to interpreting policy wording. You pride yourself on producing error-free documentation and carefully checking your work.Excellent communication skills. You can communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. You will be explaining insurance matters to clients in plain English, liaising with insurance underwriters and medical professionals, and keeping advisors and colleagues updated.Self-motivation and ownership. We are looking for someone who will take ownership of the insurance support function and proactively drive it. You should be comfortable working with some autonomy. A strong work ethic and can-do attitude are essential.Problem-solving and adaptability. Every clients scenario is different, and insurance underwriting or claims can sometimes throw curveballs.
