Staff within the region work with traditional owners in many of these reserves to help protect the natural and cultural values of the area and to ensure customary activities and traditional practices are maintained. Goldfields Region is also responsible for fire preparedness, weeds and feral animal control on 40.3 million hectares of unallocated Crown land and unmanaged reserves.Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia, steeped with history and heritage. For more information about life in Kalgoorlie, visit currently have an opportunity for a Regional Leader Conservation.Under the limited direction (Level 6) or minimal direction (Level 7) of the Regional Manager, you will lead and coordinate the planned development and delivery of the departments conservation services in the Goldfields region, and ensures the services are in the spirit and intent of joint management.At the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), we have adopted Leadership Expectations which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will be Leading Others to help drive positive change.Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.Considerable (Level 6) or extensive (Level 7) knowledge of, and experience in the provision of nature conservation and natural land management services, in developing and implementing related operational plans, management plans and strategies, and having familiarity with the principles of planning for biodiversity outcomes and ecologically sustainable development.Considerable (Level 6) or extensive (Level 7) experience in the effective management and leadership of teams, and in negotiating, communicating and liaising with the community, media, and special interest groups including Aboriginal people.Substantial experience and competence in financial management and other management systems; including project management, risk management, and information technology.Considerable (Level 6) or extensive (Level 7) knowledge and experience in engaging, communicating, liaising and working successfully with Traditional Owners and joint management partners to deliver nature conservation programs.About UsDBCA, one of Western Australia''s largest state government agencies, providing exciting and challenging career opportunities in biodiversity conservation and park and natural resource management.
