This role will require the successful applicant to work with the Clinical Director - Medicine to assist with providing a high level of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are efficiently utilised, services are effectively integrated within the hospital/service and the highest standards of service delivery are achieved in accordance with hospital/service policy directions, service standards and financial targets. In addition, the Clinical Lead will provide specialist general medicine care to patients attending the MCH. This position will be attractive to highly skilled and motivated medical professionals who view challenges as opportunities and is driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems. The right applicants will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels. Subspecialty interests from the above list will be an advantage. The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.About UsServicing a population of approximately 116,000, the DoH North West, has major sites located approximately 50km apart, the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH). The Department of Health North West provides both acute and sub-acute general medicine, and a range of medical sub-specialty services including a large outpatient service. The Clinical Lead Medicine MCH will be responsible for leading the Department of Medicine at the MCH which includes a broad range of services: -Acute and sub-acute general medicineGastroenterology and HepatologyRespiratoryNephrologyEndocrinology and DiabetesGeriatric MedicinePalliative CareRehabilitation MedicineThe Department of Medicine holds accreditation with RACP which includes accreditation for basic and advance physician training in general medicine. The NWRH is an accredited site for level 1 basic physician training, and the MCH an accredited secondment site for NWRH physician trainees. Both NWRH and MCH are accredited for advance training in general medicine.
