This is a rare opportunity to join a team at the forefront of change and help shape the future of an organisation already making a profound difference in peoples lives.About The RoleThis is a newly created and pivotal role within Co-Hive, designed to support our continued growth and ensure financial stability across our expanding operations. As our first dedicated Finance Controller, youll have the opportunity to build financial processes from the ground up, introduce efficiencies, and lead all aspects of compliance, reporting, and strategic budgeting.You will work closely with leadership to align financial management with Co-Hives mission and NDIS funding structures, helping us scale responsibly while staying true to our values.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & ReportingLead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including variance analysis and board reportingPrepare financial statements in accordance with AAS, SCHADS, and NDIS reporting guidelinesManage statutory obligations: BAS, FBT, payroll, superannuation, tax lodgementsBudgeting & ForecastingCollaborate on annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, highlighting cash flow and NDIS funding risksProvide regular financial insights to leadership for strategic decision-makingAudit & ComplianceEnsure robust internal controls and preparation for external auditsMaintain compliance with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirementsTeam Leadership & MentorshipOversee day-to-day finance/admin teams: AP, AR, payroll, reportingMentor and develop junior finance staff and contractorsCash Flow & TreasuryMonitor and manage cash flow, debtors, and creditorsAdminister banking, debt, and cash-related operationsSystems & Process ImprovementMaintain and optimise Finance/Accounting systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB, Sage)Lead automation initiatives to streamline finance operationsNDIS-Specific Financial OversightTrack NDIS participant funding, plan budgets, invoicing, and reconciliationsLiaise with NDIS planners/account managers to liaise around funding status and claimsAbout You Skills & ExperienceBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent; CA/CPA preferred7+ years experience in financial accounting, preferably in a finance-controller roleExperience in not-for-profit, NDIS or SCHADS-funded organisations highly desirableStrong technical accounting knowledge: AAS, BAS, FBT, payroll, NDIS complianceProficiency in accounting systems and high level Excel/Power BI skillsExcellent communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skillsStrong interpersonal skills able to work with external stakeholders, auditors, and cross-functional teamsWhy Join Co-Hive?Help shape the future of a rapidly growing organisation making a real differenceStrategic leadership role with strong influence and visibilityFlexible working arrangements including 4-day week optionAdditional paid Wellness Leave days each yearBe part of a close-knit, passionate team building something that mattersHybrid structure: ideally 34 days onsite at our Alexandria hub, with 12 days WFHWere also in the process of registering as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI), hoping for approval in the next six months.
