Senior Hospital Medical Officer - Remuneration Package Range $209,487 - $216,206 (including salary $179,454 - $185,256)Surgery and Critical CareDarwin, Palmerston, Northern AustraliaProvide high-quality orthopaedic services to patients across the Top End of Australia.Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.Currently, the Royal Darwin Hospital is inviting Orthopaedic Surgeons to join the team of orthopaedic surgeons for 12-month placement covering the period 2 February 2026 - 31 January 2027.As a Senior Hospital Medical Officer, you will provide high-quality orthopaedic services to patients at Royal Darwin Hospital and via outreach services to Katherine and Gove hospitals.Your key duties will involve the management of orthopaedic patients, including elective and emergency theatre cases, and the admission and discharge of patients under the supervision of the Orthopaedic Specialist. You will participate in the Departments 24-hr roster ensuring the proper functioning of the service. In addition, you will participate in continuous medial education, professional development, peer reviews, research, teaching and quality improvement activities, and provide supervision to junior medical and clinical staff.To be successful you are required to be eligible for appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia, hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent, and have appropriate experience and training in Orthopaedics.
