Vergers play a key role in supporting our commercial events, which are increasingly vital to the Cathedrals financial sustainability and the continued operation of both the Vergers work and the Cathedral as a whole.The Deputy Head Verger will play an active role in the Verging Team, supporting the day-to-day operation of the Cathedral and ensuring the highest standards are met for services, events, presentation, welcome, maintenance and safety. This is a complex, demanding, and rewarding role that requires flexibility, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills. The post-holder will be expected to embrace the dynamic nature of the role, adapting as the Cathedral continues to grow and develop. They will lead by example, working as part of a committed and hard-working team.Your background may be in hospitality, events, building management, or in a similar role to this one. You may already be serving as a leader or paid Verger in your local church or cathedral. We are looking for someone with a mature outlook, excellent interpersonal skills, and a deep empathy for our Christian mission and values.
