Find out moreabout us andour purpose .We are seeking an experienced Counsellor to join our Common Ground AOD Hub, supporting clients facing substance use need, as well as complexities such as mental health or risk to tenancy. In this role, you will provide individual and group interventions to support recovery from alcohol and drug use. You will deliver counselling, education, and assessments while contributing to case management, service evaluations, and continuous quality improvement. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a trauma-informed, client-focused environment.As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in facilitating recovery and rehabilitation from problematic drug and alcohol use, while also offering AOD specialist information and support to other Mission Australia employees in the implementation of their case management plans.This contract ends on 30th June 2027.Your key responsibilities will be to:Provide individual and group counselling support to our in-house clients, outreach and tele health support as requiredDevelop and implement drug education and psychoeducation to meet the needs of clientsProvide assessment, case management advice and psychometric tools as requiredManage all individualized consumer files and ensure all internal and external paperwork are completed accuratelySupport the program manager with the evaluations and participate in development and implementation of continuous quality improvementRequirements for SuccessAccredited counsellor with governing counselling bodyDegree or Diploma in counselling with a minimum of 2 years counselling or relevant community services experienceExtensive knowledge of mental health issues, homelessness, and/or AOD servicesProven ability to work with agencies including complex case managementHas a sound understanding of Mission Australias values and code of conductWell-developed written and oral communication skills, including highly developed administrative skillsBefore starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, referee checks, and WWCC.Rewarding work every day you know youre making a real differenceNot-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay) Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave.Our cultureOur innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritize the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
