Trainee Rehabilitation Registrar - DarwinDate published: Jul 31, 2025, 13:26 PMLocationDarwinDescriptionThere are 3 accredited Rehabilitation Registrar positions available at the Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital for 2026.A 6-month or 12-month contract is recommended for any Advanced or Basic Trainee.The rehabilitation services moved to new facilities at the Palmerston Hospital in 2018. This is a new 116-bed hospital 20 minutes from RDH but is one campus.The service is now in a purpose-built facility with the Geriatric service, 24-hour ED, Pathology and Radiology.There''s a 24-bed general rehabilitation ward dealing with a mix of adult rehabilitation ranging from stroke/neurological, amputee, brain/spinal injury, orthopaedic and multiple trauma. There''s extensive exposure to the Indigenous culture and opportunities to attend Outreach clinics. A private hospital with a rehabilitation ward is also collocated at RDH.Outpatient clinics cover prosthetics/orthotics, chronic pain, stroke and brain injury. Exposure to intrathecal pumps and botulinum toxin injections is available. There are also onsite hydrotherapy facilities and allied health services.The positions are supported by RMOs. There''s a structured teaching program with formal learning contracts. The positions are supervised by three fully credentialed AFRM Fellows.Our previous trainees have been successful in Module 1 and 2 and the Fellowship examinations.The positions are suitable for Advanced or Basic AFRM trainee and all applications will be considered.Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Passed RACP written and clinical exam or recognised overseas equivalentPGY3+ and willing to step up to a Registrar role with strong background in medical terms or within 2 years of completing fellowship training or previous experience as a Medical Registrar (Senior REG)Sound clinical knowledge in assessment and management of patients and commitment to provide high-quality service.Interpersonal communication skills, and able to interact positively in cross-cultural work environments.ApplyApplications should consist of a 1-page summary sheet, CV and copies of relevant qualifications.We acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians and Elders past, present and emerging of the lands and waters on which RACP members and staff live, learn and work.
