Located at Western Sydney Universitys Westmead campus, NICM integrates traditional Chinese medicine, Indigenous bush medicine, and other traditional practices with rigorous pharmacological and clinical research to advance patient-centred care.The OpportunityAre you a strategic leader in clinical research with a passion for complementary medicine and therapies? NICM is seeking an accomplished academic to join the professoriate as a Principal Fellow, Clinical Research. In this prestigious role, you will shape the strategic direction of NICMs clinical trials program and provide academic leadership across teaching, research, and engagement. You will mentor emerging early-career researchers and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive work culture.As Principal Fellow, you will make substantial leadership contributions, including:Guiding the strategic direction of NICMs clinical trials program, with a focus on infrastructure, implementation, and innovation in complementary medicine and therapies.Providing academic leadership and mentoring early-career researchers, while fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion, and collaboration across the Institute.Leading high-quality research initiatives, publishing in top-tier national and international journals, and securing competitive external funding, including Australian Competitive Grants (Category 1) and commercial research contracts.Contributing to teaching and curriculum design in relevant areas, and supervising postgraduate research students to support the growth of NICMs academic community.Championing a positive, inclusive, and innovative work environment that supports interdisciplinary collaboration and continuous improvement.This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity for 5 years based at Westmead Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.Please review the position description for further information.About YouYou are a strategic academic leader with a PhD in Medicine or a related field. You have a strong track record in the clinical trial lifecycle from protocol design to successful delivery. Your research is internationally recognised, supported by competitive funding acquisition, high-impact publications, and collaborative networks. You bring extensive experience in supervising HDR candidates and mentoring early-career researchers, alongside a commitment to excellence in teaching. Youre skilled at building partnerships across government, industry, and the profession to drive innovation, and youre passionate about translating research into real-world impact.
