Department of Land, Planning and EnvironmentProfessional 3 - Remuneration Package Range $130,663 - $146,130(including salary $110,873 - $124,173)Lands Planning and Development Assessment ServicesDarwinSeveral ongoing vacancies are availableApply your extensive experience in Land Use Planning and your understanding of urban planning principles to navigate complex regulatory frameworks across the Territory.The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) aims to facilitate sustainable economic development in the Northern Territory through planning, building and land management.As a Senior Planner, your primary objective is to manage the planning and development processed for various urban and regional projects. You will require a deep understanding of urban planning principles strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.Your key duties include providing professional advice and information to the Department, the Development Consent Authority (DCA), Northern Territory Planning Commission (NTPC) and Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment, relevant Government agencies, and the public on planning and development issues across the Top End. You will be responsible for efficiently processing planning applications, and consulting with stakeholders on strategic planning projects and applications, and leading negotiations to achieve viable outcomes in compliance with the relevant Planning Scheme. You will also undertake inspections of development sites, report on land capability and detailed planning issues, including investigations of alleged breaches of the statutory planning controls under the Planning Act 1999.To be successful, you are required to hold a degree or diploma qualification related to Land Use Planning from an Australian tertiary institution, have eligibility for admission, to full membership of the Planning Institute of Australia; and demonstrated recent experience in dealing with a wide range of land use, land capability and development planning issues. Well-developed political and cross-cultural awareness and the ability to communicate effectively with technical, professional and lay people is essential, as is the ability to obtain a Northern Territory Drivers License.In return, you will receive a competitive salary package, inclusive of 12% superannuation, 6 weeks recreational leave, 3 weeks personal leave, up to 17.5% annual leave allowance and additional paid leave to cover the Christmas New Years Day shut-down.
