We are flexible with locations, although Melbourne is the preferred location for these roles.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and Hybrid working.Reporting to the Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) Lead, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art autonomous systems, with a specific emphasis on vehicle dynamics and GNC.Key responsibilities include:Delivery of high-quality technical input to autonomous vehicle developments, including:Developing advanced vehicle dynamics models for optimal performance in various scenariosImplementing and fine-tuning GNC algorithms to ensure precise navigation and controlCollaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate autonomy solutions into various platformsConducting thorough testing and validation to ensure robust and reliable performance in dynamic environmentsPerform assurance activities for the models and simulations to the required standardDevelop tools to support modelling and analysis andInput to peer, technical and design reviews relevant to the project lifecycle to ensure product fitness for purpose, safety, and compliance with requirementsAbout YOUEngineering degree qualified in Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline (other fields such as applied Mathematics or Physics may also be suitable)Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, and experience in at least two major lifecycle phases (i.e. requirements analysis, architectural design, modelling, integration, acceptance testing), in an acquisition or sustainment contextExperience in peer, technical and design reviews, both informal and formalStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong ability in defect analysis and rectificationExcellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment and independentlyAbility to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary outcomesDefence security clearance or eligibility to obtainEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulationsWe believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don''t tick all the boxes.
