Lithgow, New South WalesDescriptionThe OpportunityLithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Aquatic Centre Duty Officer on a part time basis to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.Reporting to the Aquatic Centre Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring that the J.M Robson Aquatic Centre is operated in a safe manner, in accordance with Royal Lifesaving guidelines & Councils WHS policies & procedures. As part of the the Aquatic Centre management team you will be required to ensure that permanent and casual staff are guided through their shift.More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):Implement operational systems and procedures and allocate resources to ensure all venue operational requirements are met, while and maintaining high standards of service delivery, venue presentation, safety and securitySupervise aquatic centre staff while on shift, providing guidance, on safe operations and tasksCarry out and lead emergency response activities and plans in line with the Centres Emergency Management response plansTo ensure that on shift maintenance/cleaning is carried out with a minimum of disruption to the users of the facilityReport regularly to the Aquatic Centre Manager on the plant room operations and service deliveryEnsure lifeguards carry out their duties in terms of NSW Health Department, Council and Occupational Health and Safety guidelinesAssist the centre manager to provide onsite training as well as inductions to new employeesEnsure lifeguards/ swim teachers carry out their duties in terms of NSW Health Department, Council and Occupational Health and Safety guidelinesFor more detail about the specific duties and responsibilities of the position, please CLICK HERE for the complete Position Description.About YouThe successful candidate will meet the following criteria:Current Senior First Aid Certificate Level 2 and current CPRRoyal Life Saving Lifeguard LicenceCertificate III in Aquatics (SIS30110) or equivalent (or willing to obtain)Completion of Working with Children Check.Demonstrated commitment to the principles of integrity and honestyDemonstrated commitment to high quality customer serviceHigh level communication skillsPrior experience with public pool operationsCommitment to Work Health and SafetyIn Addition, An Ideal Candidate Would Have Experience InCertificate IV in Community Recreation (SIS40110)RLSSA Oxygen Equipment AwardAsthma Treatment CourseSenior First Aid Certificate Level 3 w/Oxygen Assisted ResuscitationDemonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Councils Pool Operations ManualExperience in a customer focused roleOutstanding in person and telephone etiquette and communicationDemonstrated ability to deal with complex pool / aquatic issuesBasic computer skillsExperience with Perfect Gym (POS software), Windows and Microsoft Office, and EFTPOS equipment or equivalentKnowledge of the Guidelines for Safe Pool operationsSalary and BenefitsIf you are looking for a change of lifestyle, a new adventure, or to take the next step in your career, this is the role for you.Between $651.30 and $715.64 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.Permanent, Part Time, 20 hours per week Monday - WednesdayOngoing learning and development opportunitiesAPPLICATIONS CLOSE ON Friday 29 August 2025 at 4pm AEST.Please note: To be considered for this position, candidates must address all selection criteria.
