Centurion Events Pty Ltd T/As The Flying Chef and Jasmine Thai Kitchen are seeking a dynamic, creative and career focused individual to join our culinary team on Full Time basis. This position provides a great opportunity for a highly experienced chef looking to develop their skills further. You will ensure tasks assigned are carried out in a timely fashion, to a high standard and within food hygiene guidelines. Main Duties Work with Executive chef / directors to develop weekly specials that align with the restaurants concept and ethos. Ensure menu items meet quality, presentation, and portion control standards Oversee daily Kitchen operations during their shift, ensuring smooth service during busy hours. Ensuring all kitchen equipment is fully functional and maintained Manage food wastage through portion control to optimize cost effectiveness Be a team member to prepare food for service during service hours Monitor quality of dishes to ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest quality standard to ensure exceptional dining experience Monitor food presentation and plating, ensuring consistency across dishes Check food quality and storage procedure regularly to ensure freshness of food Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards to comply with Australian Food Safety regulations and local health codes Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items to avoid contamination and meet health standards Implement and monitor cleaning schedules for kitchen equipment and workspaces Ensure Customer feedback is actively sought and addressed, particularly concerning food quality, quantity and presentation. Coordinate with front of the house staff to manage special dietary requirements and ensure customer needs are met Handle any issues or complaints regarding food quality professionally To be successful in this role you will have: A passion for the food and beverage industry and a willingness to succeed in it Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work unsupervised as well as in a team in a busy kitchen environment Good time management skills and the ability to work under pressure Demonstrated ability to be able to multi task Qualification Trade Qualification A Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalence Extensive experience of more than 3 yrs will be considered as meeting qualification requirements Experience Previous experience: at least 3 years as chef Experience in Sri Lankan cuisine is highly desirable.
