As a key member of the executive leadership team, the COO will drive operational excellence, support strategic growth, and ensure that Simocos solutions are delivered with precision, quality, and customer satisfaction.The company has ambitious growth plans and requires a leader with a proven track record of operational excellence, business growth and team leadership. This role involves cross-functional leadership across engineering, project delivery, solutions design, assembly, product fulfilment, service, repair, maintenance & customer support.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational LeadershipOversee all day-to-day operations nationally, ensuring that projects and services are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.Strategic ExecutionTranslate the companys strategic goals into operational plans and ensure alignment with global business objectives and local market requirements.Project & Programme OversightEnsure successful delivery of complex communications infrastructure projects, with a focus on quality, compliance, and risk management. Use Prince2 or similar project management methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.Commercial PerformanceDrive operational efficiency, manage resource planning and cost control, and support sustainable revenue growth.Team Leadership & CultureLead and inspire high-performing teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, safety, and accountability.Cross Functional SupportWork closely with all departments within the business to ensure reliable and open communications and collegiate working environment.Customer & Partner EngagementBuild strong relationships with key clients, government stakeholders, and technology partners to enhance Simocos presence and reputation.Compliance & RiskEnsure full compliance with all relevant Australian laws, safety regulations, and industry standards across the organisation.Operational Improvement & InnovationLead continuous improvement initiatives and support the adoption of modern technologies, systems, and processes.QualificationsEducationBachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Telecommunications, or a related field (required).Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) or another relevant postgraduate qualification (desirable).Professional Certifications (desirable, not essential)PMP, PRINCE2, or other project/programme management certification.Lean Six Sigma or operational excellence qualification.AICD (Australian Institute of Company Directors) or equivalent executive training.Technical & Industry KnowledgeSolid understanding of telecommunications or wireless communications (e.g., DMR, P25, LTE, private LTE, LEO/GEO).Familiarity with public and private sector procurement and contract management in Australia.Knowledge of WHS (Work Health and Safety), quality systems, and operational risk frameworks.Experience10+ years senior operational leadership experience in telecommunications, technology, or engineering sectors.Proven success in managing complex, large-scale projects and multi-disciplinary teams.Experience working with mission-critical or infrastructure-based systems, ideally within highly regulated environments.Strong track record in implementing operational improvements and managing organisational change.Strategic thinker with strong technical and commercial acumen.Ability to think outside of the box with a pragmatic and common-sense approach to solving problems.Confident and inclusive, hands on leader able to manage across functions and geographies.Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.Results-oriented, with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Why Join Simoco?Play a key leadership role in a globally respected communications technology business.Contribute to projects that support public safety, infrastructure, and national resilience.Join a collaborative and values-driven team with a strong local presence and international reach.Competitive remuneration and the opportunity to shape the future of wireless communications in AustraliaPlease apply and provide a copy of your CV and Cover Letter, specifically addressing the above criteria and your suitability to the role advertised.Unlock job insightsSalary match Number of applicants Skills matchYour application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?
