Overview Permanent / Full time Location Proserpine Salary: $85,807- $96,869 per annum The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. Your opportunity Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking a proactive and community-focused Waste Management Officer - Collection to support the Manager Waste and Recycling Services in delivering the outcomes of Councils Regional Waste Management Strategy. Benefits Work life balance with a 9 day fortnight Save more with our salary sacrifice scheme Locality Allowance Health and Wellbeing Benefits Responsibilities Deliver exceptional customer service to residents using Councils Waste Management Services Stay up to date with relevant legislation and ensure compliance across waste collection and disposal operations Supervise contractors and site staff to ensure high standards and legal obligations are met Support the implementation of Councils Waste Management Strategy, including priority actions and planning Promote waste and recycling awareness through education programs and community engagement Qualifications Essential C Class Manual Drivers Licence Demonstrated experience in contract management and administration A sound knowledge of operational aspects of waste collection vehicle types including but not limited to manoeuvrability, clearances and access limitations Demonstrated experience in waste collection facility operations Ability to manage time, work independently balancing competing demands and capacity to adapt readily to change Well developed verbal communication skills including the ability to foster staff and community participating in the implementation of waste and resource recovery education programs and initiatives. Desirable Knowledge of Council policies, organisational structure and functions, interpretation of legislation and regulations Knowledge of environmental monitoring and assessment Knowledge of waste management facility operations Come join us and be part of a team making a real difference in the Whitsunday Community!
