About The OpportunityMining Skills Australia Drill & Blast Department is currently seeking experienced, proactive & adaptable Drill & Blast Trainers to join our expanding team at various locations within Australia. Ideal applicants will have either experience as a shotfirer in open cut coal or open cut metals, with drilling experience desirable or a driller in open cut environments on multiple drills (Hammer and Rotary). Must have site-based experience with delivering training and supervision on-bench to ensure safe, efficient and best practice operations. Applicants are required to possess a high level of communication skills along with computer literacy & problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both autonomously and within a team. Successful applicants must be based in Australia.What We Are Looking ForTo be eligible for these positions you must hold:Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalentCertificate IV WHS or auditing qualifications (Desirable)Open C Class Manual Licence or aboveStandard 11 Induction (Queensland only)Blast TrainerSurface shotfiring licence (desirable)Previous hands-on experience with operator training including safe handling, transport and use of explosivesCoach and mentor personnel to promote best practices in blast design, charging, and firing proceduresConduct on-the-job training and audits to ensure compliance with site safety protocols and legislationIdentify skill gaps and deliver targeted training to support continuous improvementStay up to date with explosives legislation, site procedures, and industry innovationsAbility to document and maintain training recordsExperience with both electronic and non-electric blasting systemsBasic Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)Drill TrainerTop Hole Hammer drilling experience (Desirable)Provide coaching to operators on equipment operation, drilling techniques, and efficient drill patternsMonitor operator performance and conduct competency-based assessments aligned with site standardsSupport continuous improvement by identifying training needs and skill development opportunitiesAssist with new operator onboarding, machine familiarization, and procedural trainingPromote safe work practices with a focus on hazard awareness, equipment pre-starts, and task planningMaintain up-to-date training records and contribute to training reports and auditsStay current with technological advancements in drill rigs, automation, and remote operation systemsBasic Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)Key ResponsibilitiesTrain and develop production teams with proficiency trainingUtilise cutting-edge technology to assist in proficiency information captureMaintain and document training recordsDeliver training with a focus on safety and efficiencyCollaborate with teams to enhance skill developmentParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives for training programsWhats On OfferFlexible rosters: Various options available dependent on job rolesPrimarily day shifts (12-hour shifts)Flights and accommodation providedCasual positions long-term (higher pay rate) + superHow To ApplyTo apply for this position, please email your CV and cover letter to our onboarding team at: [email protected] or apply through our website.
