The Council is seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Chief People Officer to lead the People and Safety function and shape the employee experience of today and tomorrow.Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief People Officer (CPO) will lead and develop a high-performing People and Safety unit encompassing People Services, Industrial Relations & Business Advisory, Safety & Wellbeing, and People Systems & Data. This role will drive contemporary people and safety strategies that enhance the employee experience, strengthen workplace culture, and align with Council''s Team Melton transformation agenda.ResponsibilitiesLead People & Culture Transformation and drive contemporary people and safety strategiesPartner with Leaders across Council to champion operational excellenceProvide trusted, data-driven advice on workforce planning, organisational design, employee wellbeing, and workplace relationsEmbed best-practice frameworks and deliver technological and process innovationsLead and develop a high-performing People and Safety team (People Services, Industrial Relations & Business Advisory, Safety & Wellbeing, People Systems & Data)Qualifications and ExperienceStrategic, people-focused senior leader with experience leading change in large, complex organisationsExtensive experience in leading people, culture, and safety functions within diverse workforcesProven expertise in industrial relations and working effectively with unionsTrack record of delivering organisational transformation and continuous improvementStrong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills; able to build trust and influence at all levelsTertiary qualifications are essential, postgraduate study highly regardedWhy Join UsAt Melton City Council, our values are Motivate, Empower, Lead, Trust, Open, and Nurture.
