Traffic Signals Technician Illawarra MercuryJoin to apply for the Traffic Signals Technician role at Illawarra Mercury.Location: Russell Vale, NSW, AU 2518 Permanent Full-TimeOverviewYou are a qualified Electrical Contractor with a current Electrical Contractor Licence. You will perform construction, maintenance, repairs and modifications of complex intelligent traffic systems equipment and tunnel power and life safety equipment in accordance with current specifications and instructions. You will lead staff and subcontractors at site to ensure that work is performed in a safe and timely manner, while complying with TfNSW standards and client requirements.ResponsibilitiesPerform construction, maintenance, repairs and modifications of complex intelligent traffic systems equipment and tunnel power and life safety equipment in accordance with current specifications and instructions.Perform preventative maintenance and functional checks of intelligent traffic systems and associated equipment to prevent faults and ensure smooth operation of traffic control systems at intersections, through tunnels and on open road.Repair faults and accident damage as they occur to ensure continuous operation of intelligent traffic systems.Undertake programmed work to meet TfNSW specifications and maintain client satisfaction.Lead staff and subcontractors at site to ensure work is safe and completed in a timely manner.Adhere to TfNSW specifications to ensure compliance while carrying out minor construction or reconstruction of intelligent traffic systems and tunnel power and life safety equipment.Assist the Traffic Systems Supervisor and provide support to the team; undertake other duties related to traffic systems maintenance as required.Qualifications & ExperienceQualified Electrical Contractor with a current Electrical Contractor Licence.Experience in calibration or testing of electronic equipment and troubleshooting faults; ability to identify root causes and resolve issues promptly.Experience responding to high-level technical requests and minimizing traffic disruption through timely repairs.Effective communication skills; able to act as an escalation point, provide guidance and support to colleagues.Current and valid Australian drivers licence; willing to work outside normal hours and to travel occasionally.Rostered callout duties to repair faults within specified response times (minimum two hours).Experience with Asset Vision system is highly regarded.Requirements & InformationMust reside within 70 km driving distance from the Russell Vale Depot.Employment type: Permanent Full-Time.Salary range: $97,553.00 $103,804.00 per year.Application close: 11:59 pm Tuesday 7 October 2025.About UsTransport for NSW provides a safe, integrated, and efficient transport system.
