OverviewSusanne Nelson and Associates (SNAA) is an outreach Occupational Therapy Service for children aged 0-16, delivering therapy in the childs family home, Kindergarten, or School setting. SNAA operates as a family-centred practice with interests in cognitive behavioural/affective training, anxiety management, social skills, and sensory modulation.SNAA currently consists of fifteen Occupational Therapists and four allied health assistants, supporting over 160 families in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The company emphasizes efficiency, professionalism, Medicare, NDIS, Autism knowledge, and strong communication with affiliates. SNAA is a family-owned business that supports staff in a busy environment focused on fulfillment, enjoyment, and support.Employment status:Child ACasual hours: 9 hours across 3 days (10.30am - 1.30pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday)Support within the childs Kindergarten in Camberwell during school termsPosition SummaryThe Allied Health Assistant (AHA) will support the client/family and SNAA Therapist by providing set Occupational Therapy tasks and activities prescribed by the OT supervisor. The AHA will maintain ongoing relationships with the client/family and affiliated professionals as required. The AHA will be client/family service-focused, providing a mature, caring, and professional representation of SNAA in person, over the phone, and via email. The AHA will pursue professional development through ongoing training, mentoring, feedback, and supervision to ensure duties are performed at a professional level aligned with company and family goals.In order to effectively achieve the above, the AHA must be well organised, honest, efficient, and an excellent communicator. The position is integral to SNAAs support of its current clientele.Key deliverables and accountabilitiesFollow and conduct necessary tasks and activities as outlined within the clients individualised Occupational Therapy home program.Immediately and professionally respond to client needs or concerns and communicate this to your supervisor.Maintain/promote strong working relationships with the clients family, your OT supervisor, and SNAA management (Director, Assistant Director, Account Manager).Liaise and work collaboratively with the clients family, your supervisor, and Director regarding the clients OT program or any additional concerns/observations needing support.Attend supervision meetings weekly.Complete file notes for each home visit using company templates.Complete time sheets at the end of each working week.Ensure staff qualifications are up to date and kept on file.Education and TrainingStudying Bachelor/Masters of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).Knowledge and experienceExperience (desirable) or interest in developmental paediatrics, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorders.Ability to work with a diverse range of clients in age, culture, mental health, Autism Spectrum disorders and other backgrounds.Computer literacy and experience with office programs (Excel and Word) to communicate client progress and liaise with SNAA management.Capabilities and behavioursEnthusiasm and passion for working within a family business.Interest in working within an Occupational Therapy practice/Neurodivergent clientele.Excellent communication and ability to work autonomously and confidentially in a clients home environment.Initiative, problem solving, independence, reliability, sense of humour, flexibility, and ability to manage issues in the clients home environment with OT supervisor support.Consistently deliver a high level of client service and work well as part of a professional team.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in person, over the phone, and in writing.Strong people/team management skills.Demonstrate positive values including caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.Maintain high standards of presentation and personal grooming.Punctuality for shifts and supervision meetings.Drive a strong safety culture within the clients home environment.Must haveCurrent Australian National Police CheckCurrent Working with Childrens CheckBe a permanent Australian citizen / live in Melbourne, AustraliaSenioritiesEntry levelEmployment typeOtherJob functionHealth Care ProviderIndustries: Individual and Family ServicesReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at Susanne Nelson and Associates.
