Contract Administrator Hybrid role at Illawarra MercuryWe are partnering on The Works, Corrimal, a major urban renewal project transforming the former Corrimal Coke Works site into a vibrant new community. The Works Stage 1 will deliver 179 modern apartments across five buildings, blending cutting-edge design with industrial heritage. This is an exciting time to join Growthbuilt on a large, multi-stage pipeline in the Illawarra region and grow your career in a collaborative commercial team.About the roleAs a Contracts Administrator, youll work closely with the Senior Contracts Administrator and Project Manager to deliver commercial and financial outcomes for The Works, Corrimal. Youll collaborate with the site delivery team, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to support cost efficiency, contract compliance, and subcontractor performance on this landmark project. Youll be responsible for end-to-end subcontract administration, while supporting head contract management and financial reporting, with mentorship from senior team members.Your day-to-day will includeProcurement: Maintain a project procurement schedule, prepare tender packages, scopes of work and comparisons, and procure subcontractor and supplier packages in line with the schedule.Subcontract administration: Manage subcontract agreements, including performance tracking, claims, variations, RFIs and notices, protecting Growthbuilts commercial position while fostering positive relationships.Claims assessment & payments: Assess and process subcontractor payment claims in line with site progress, agreed scopes, and commercial compliance, ensuring payment schedules are issued in accordance with the Security of Payments Act where applicable.Project reporting: Prepare monthly project review submissions, including EOT registers, forecast cost schedules, variation schedules, cash flow forecasts and risk registers, with oversight from the Senior CA, and contribute to presentations to senior leadership.Cost control & value engineering: Identify opportunities for savings or value-add through careful scope management, without compromising quality, safety or client outcomes.Project delivery: Work closely with the Senior CA, Project Manager and site team to resolve contractual issues quickly, keep the program on track, and maintain clear client communications.Head contract support: Review entitlements and obligations under the Head Contract, and assist the Senior CA with preparing any variation submissions, EOTs and delay notices.Document control: Ensure project records and documentation are maintained, including subcontractor quality and safety documentation in line with contract requirements.Mentoring: Provide guidance to graduates and cadets, supporting their professional growth and development.About youYou are a capable and highly driven Contract Administrator with the confidence to take on end-to-end processes while learning from senior colleagues. Youre detail-oriented, resilient, commercially savvy, and ready to step into a complex project environment.5+ years post-graduate experience in contract administration within the construction sector, or have completed at least two Tier 2 projects from head contract award to practical completion with a D&C builderExperience procuring trades, negotiating subcontracts, and managing subcontractor performanceStrong knowledge of subcontract claims, variations, progress payments, and reportingAbility to prepare financial reports, forecasts and support overall project cost managementHigh-level stakeholder communication skills and the ability to foster strong subcontractor relationshipsA proactive problem-solver who works well in a team and is eager to mentor junior team membersNot sure if you tick every box?
