We areCompassionate, Respectful, Imaginative and Bold.Role PurposeIn this role, you will design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives. You will lead the integration of data sources, optimise ETL processes, and ensure the quality and reliability of data across the organisation.As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with architects, analysts and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions that enable informed decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and deliveryIntegrate diverse data sources to create unified, accessible datasets for analytics and business insightsArchitect and implement robust data engineering solutions that are secure, efficient and maintainableAutomate data workflows using modern tools and scripting languages (e.g. Python, APIs)Monitor performance of data systems, identify inefficiencies, and implement enhancementsEnsure adherence to best practices in data quality, governance, security, and regulatory complianceProvide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, and architectural guidanceEvaluate and adopt new tools or frameworks to continuously improve data engineering capabilitiesWork closely with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutionsQualifications and ExperienceThis role typically requires a tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field, along with over 10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics, and machine learning environments.Strong programming skills in Python and SQLProficient in designing and managing ETL/ELT processes across multiple systemsSolid understanding of data modelling and database architectureExperience with cloud data platforms (Azure preferred), including Azure Data FactoryProficiency in using Snowflake or similar modern data warehousing platformsExperience working with Git or similar version control systemsDemonstrated ability to work with both technical and non-technical staff with clarity and empathyExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsProven experience automating development and support processesAbility to navigate complex organisations and influence without direct authorityDesirableAbility to apply Python/R/Predictive Analytics (Machine Learning, Statistics)Familiarity with data sharing, performance tuning, and schema design in SnowflakeKnowledge of data product design to meet the needs of staff delivering community services and customer careWhat We Offer YouA rewarding career with a leading human services organisation.Up to $18,550 NFP salary packaging available.Access to our U rewards program with exclusive discounts.Flexible work hours for work-life balance.Affordable access to Fitness Passport discounted gym memberships to support your best life.A supportive and inclusive and collaborative work environment.Opportunities for professional growth.Purchase of additional leave.How to apply: Submit your CV and a brief cover letter highlighting why this role appeals to you - Applications reviewed upon receipt.For all questions, please don''t hesitate to contact Fabio Ioviero via email at [email protected] youre part of Uniting NSW.ACT, youre part of a diverse, purpose-led team of people who are really making a difference to the world around them.Uniting contributes to the work and mission of the Uniting Church in NSW and the ACT through social justice advocacy, community services and spiritual care.
