Overview An excellent opportunity is available for a newly graduated Speech Pathologist to join the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) Speech Pathology team. This full-time temporary 2-year contract provides an opportunity for a new clinician to consolidate and enhance their graduating skills in a supportive but clinically challenging setting. What You''ll Be Doing The main purpose of this position is to provide accurate assessment and intervention for inpatients with swallowing and communication disorders within allocated clinical areas and selective outpatients within the local government area. Responsibilities Provide Speech Pathology services including assessment, intervention, case management, and appropriate referral and discharge planning for adult inpatients and select outpatients. Develop skills in instrumental assessment and gain experience in specialty areas such as burns, spinal and paediatric feeding. Participate in quality improvement activities and engage in regular departmental and district level professional development opportunities. Collaborate with supervision and mentorship from senior clinicians to support ongoing professional growth. Qualifications Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia. Supervised student clinical experience in an adult acute care setting with demonstrated skills in assessment, intervention, case management, and discharge planning. A strong interest in developing clinical skills across a range of adult swallowing and communication disorders in an acute tertiary teaching hospital setting. Ability to prioritise and manage workload, meet deadlines, and work within scope of practice while seeking assistance when required.
