It is the general manager''s responsibility to ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, creating and maintaining budgets, managing employees, and overseeing the operations of all WPBA basketball programs.As the General Manager you will foster cross-functional relationships that span further than the walls of WPBA, and utilise these to grow those that interact with us, and in turn grow basketball as a whole.Your ability to identify your team''s strengths and delegate tasks and roles to those who are reporting to you (directly and indirectly) will be key to your success in the role.The General Manager is the face of WPBA.TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIESOperationsOversee/manage day-to-day operations of all basketball programs that WPBA run:BigV weekly schedules (inline with Basketball Victoria requirements)domestic competitions programjunior representative program (with support of JRC)coordinate yearly representative tryout sessionsoversee yearly representative selection processother additional specific programs that run (eg. all abilities, walking basketball)referee program (on court co-ordination & development/support function)ensuring operational requirements are fulfilled to run all the above programsmanage 4-5 part-time team membersMarketingAlongside our Communications Officer, organise and run promotions to promote the WPBA & their sponsors/partners (suitable ROI for all parties).Manage with association website/social media marketing.FinanceResponsible for ALL financial results & reporting within WPBA. This includes, but is not limited to:ALL court hire costs (SRC & satellite courts) and tracking of.Oversee all AP/AR functions (inclusive of any additional 3rd party contracts utilised).Preparing monthly financial reporting at agreed timings with the general committee.With WPBA Treasurer & Account Officer, create & present annual budget (assumptions, process, risks & opportunities) to General Committee for establishment.EngagementActively drive engagement with the community, and promote WPBA values:Maximise the associations available programs and products.Create & implement engagement calendar/program that drives membership and a want to be involved with the association (family days, Big V events, game day program, etc..)Own relationship with venue providers and manage contracts.SafetyActively contribute to a workplace culture where WHS are given the highest priority in all activities.Ensure all policies are updated and inline with Basketball Victoria requirements (at a minimum).Lead by example through promoting and ensure safety work practices and culture.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEMin 3+ years business management experience, bringing full P&L understanding & accountability (sports management preferred, not essential).Proven operational experience with excellent written and verbal communication skills.Superior problem-solving abilities, with history in conflict resolution.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Play HQ (preferred) and social media platforms or management tools.SKILLS & KNOWLEDGEPassionate about basketball (essential)Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present strategy to internal stakeholders & external customers.Ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels (children, parents, players, suppliers)Basketball network outside of WPBA (preferred, not essential)Understanding of Basketball Victoria policies & procedures (preferred, not essential)Strong and engaging people management skillsAbility to work independently and as a member of highly engaged team.High attention to detail surrounding execution.Honest, reliable with a passion for future people development.We respect and welcome people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, abilities, and cultures.How to ApplyPlease click the Apply Now'' button.
