OverviewJoin to apply for the Product Development Manager role at Barry Callebaut Group.ResponsibilitiesThe Product Development Manager executes the Customer Product Development & Product Expert function within Australia and New Zealand. The Product Development Manager acts as the face to the customer by advising customers on application and choice of the right product suitable for their setup and also faces the factory as the technical lead (Product Expert) for the respective projects which he/she leads. This position also provides technical support and organizes training courses on the full product range and application for existing and new customers with support from other teams as required. The role will receive guidance and support from the Head of R&D ANZ in the execution of the roles duties. This position requires a detailed understanding of the development process and advanced knowledge of technologies to contribute to project objectives and outcomes.Key Responsibilities IncludeCustomer Product DevelopmentMaintain an overview of projects for accounts, customer capabilities, product portfolio, future projects and launches.Act as the face to the customer by advising in application and choice of the right product range suitable to the installation and environment.Work closely with and advise Sales and Marketing on product or application needs and align on product presentations.Provide technical support to existing and new customers, and create new market opportunities.Develop and maintain internal and external client relations and communications.Present findings such as customer needs and views internally to achieve shared goals.Ensure long-term application service is maintained and reviewed with all customers. Lead trainings and involve other R&D functions as necessary for customers and internal staff.Product Expert relatedFunctional Activities - Product Expert relatedRequest internal and external sensory tests with QA (e.g., perform panel tests)Support Process Engineer during industrial trials when requiredAssess requests from a technical point of view and discuss feasibility with operations, production, QA, or Technical AdvisorIdentify, inform and organize project members and stakeholders; establish a team for innovation or large projects and organize meetingsCollaborate with subcontractors for NPI at their facilitiesSupport OSCO in defining business cases for investment, analysis and approvalAssess and approve usability of existing raw materials, labels and packagingGain insight into existing production possibilities and obtain approvals for big-volume projectsAnalyze customer or competitor samplesDefine packaging requirements and coordinate label content with suppliersTravel requirements: travel throughout Australia and to SEA, NZ & Pacific Islands from time to timeAbout YouBachelor / Master Degree in Food Science / Food Technology preferredDemonstrated experience in the Food IndustryKnowledge of the chocolate industry is preferredDemonstrated capability in project managementOutstanding presentation skillsExperience in Sales or customer interactionGood knowledge of MS Office, Google Suite, Salesforce, SAPFluent Business EnglishFoundation knowledge and qualification as a professional food scientist/food technologistDemonstrated experience in professional, commercial product development in a multinational FMCG companyDemonstrated experience in the Australian and/or New Zealand markets, or similar highly regulated environmentsCommercial influencing skills (presenting, discussing, negotiating)Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including explaining technical subjects to non-technical audiencesAnalytical mindset with willingness to learn and take ownershipAbility to work in a complex, fast-paced environment with evolving customer requirementsEntrepreneurial spirit and passion to deliver quality outcomesConsumer and customer-oriented mindsetDemonstrated project management skillsSolution-driven, problem-solving attitudeHands-on mentality and a track record of delivering against objectivesOpen to and able to adapt quickly to new sales and marketing approachesCompliant with regulations across multiple jurisdictions and corporate standardsAbout Barry CallebautWe are committed to Diversity & Inclusion.
